Silvec wooden tripods – “Made in Germany” for perfect images

The new generation of Silvec wooden tripods is now available. With a low net weight of between 1.7 and 2.5 kilograms and a load capacity of up to 25 kilograms, Silvec wooden tripods combine all the advantages of using wooden tripods in photography, film, astronomy and geodesy.

Koblenz, 22 October 2014 – Globell Deutschland is introducing six new Silvec-branded ash wood tripod models manufactured exclusively in Germany. Designed for use in photography, film, astronomy and geodesy, these tripods are handcrafted with precision technology from Germany and are characterised by maximum stability and vibration damping as well as the highest possible load-bearing weight.

Unique among wooden tripods: 1.7 kilograms net weight with a load capacity of up to 25 kilograms Together with mechanical stability, the relationship between the tripod’s load capacity and its net weight were of particular importance when developing Silvec wooden tripods. Although previous wooden tripods were characterised by extremely good vibration damping, net weights ranging from six to eight kilograms were needed for higher load capacities, which was not practical enough for everyday use. In the top-of-the-range Silvec N 129 model, Globell Deutschland presents a unique wooden tripod for practical use, with a very low net weight of 1.7 kilograms capable of bearing up to 25 kilograms.

Silvec tripods – handcrafting and precision technology from Germany “We have developed a tripod with a distinctive unique selling point,” explains Globell Deutschland sales manager Benedikt Hartmann. “We set ourselves the crucial objective of combining a high load capacity with a very low net weight and the best possible vibration damping. As a result, we now present our Silvec tripods, handcrafted from local ash wood and precision technology from Germany to create a product that combines all the advantages of a modern tripod for practical everyday use.” The weight of Silvec wooden tripods has been reduced without compromising stability and vibration behaviour by optimising all components. As a result, Globell Deutschland’s Silvec brand presents the first wooden tripods to weigh significantly less than other wooden tripods previously available on the market, without any loss of vibration damping.

Six models with one thing in common: maximum vibration damping The new Silvec wooden tripod models are the Silvec MSN 173 with centre column and ball head leveller, the Silvec MS 171 with centre column, and the Silvec N 129 with ball head leveller, each available with either a screw clamp or quick clamp. All models weigh no more than 2.5 kilograms and have a minimum load capacity of 18 kilograms. All tripods have twin articulated arms made from weatherproof ash wood as well as enforced tripod heads made from an aluminium cast alloy. To enable maximum vibration damping and technical precision, Silvec tripods are exclusively handcrafted from local ash wood known for its excellent strength and thus often favoured in applications such as surveying equipment. Silvec’s modern and extremely low vibration tripods meet the highest technical and ergonomic requirements in photography, film, astronomy and geodesy and are exclusively manufactured in Germany. After successfully introducing the Oberwerth brand’s premium photo bags and relaunching Meyer-Optik Görlitz lenses to acclaim from the national and international trade press in 2014, Globell Deutschland now presents Silvec tripods, another photography product manufactured exclusively in Germany.

Prices and availability The tripod models Silvec MS 171, Silvec N 129 and Silvec MSN 173 with screw clamp or quick clamp are available now from specialist retailers or from www.silvec.de for €479.00 each including VAT.
